GIT Products are Water Blown Soy based foam and Water Blown Caster Based Foam

Green Insulation Technologies manufactures two product lines a water blown Soy based foam and a water blown Castor based foam.

Density of products per product line.

• Soy based products: Half pound, 1 pound, 1.7 pound, 2.5 pound & pour-in-place.
• Castor based products: Half pound, 1.2 pound, 2 pound, 3.0 pound & pour-in-place.

The Half pound products are open cell. Open cell foam is where the cell walls or surfaces are not completely closed. They are broken and air fills all of the open space. This makes the foam softer and weaker than closed cell foam. The R-value of open cell foam is less than closed cell foam 3.75 per inch vs. 6.5 but the yield is roughly quadruple that of closed cell.

The 1.7, 2, 2.5 and 3.0 pound foams are closed cell foams. Closed cell foam is where the cell walls or surfaces are not broken and are packed closely together. Closed cell foam is stronger and has a higher R-value per inch. Because it is denser the yield is less which makes it more expensive.

The 1 and 1.2 pound products are a combination open/closed cell product. There is a significant R-value increase over the open cell foam (5.2 R), but double the yield of the closed cell and greater strength than the open cell.

No VOCs or Ozone Depleting CFCs or HFCs

Since we use water as a blowing agent and not 245fa (liquid hydrofluorocarbon) which is what many manufacturers use in their foams, our foam has NO VOCs or ozone depleting CFCs or HFCs.
